Priorities for District 19

Suzanna Pavelle is running to make life more affordable, support responsible growth, and strengthen public education in District 19.

After more than 26 years living and working in St. Augustine, she knows families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, too much poorly planned development, and growing strain on the public schools our communities rely on.

Focused on What Matters Most

Affordability
Families should be able to afford to live in the communities they call home.

Suzanna will fight to:

  • Lower housing and homeowners insurance costs
  • Push back on rising everyday expenses
  • Help keep working families and seniors from being priced out

  • Strong Public Schools

    Strong public schools are essential to strong communities.

    Suzanna will fight to:

    • Support public schools and pay teachers well
    • Make sure every student has access to a strong education
    • Protect taxpayer dollars and keep the focus on student success

    Education is an imperative investment in our future.

    Growth should be planned responsibly, with local communities in mind.

    Suzanna will fight to:

    • Make sure roads, infrastructure, and public services keep pace with development
    • Protect neighborhoods, waterways, and quality of life
    • Support planning that existing residents and the character of our communities.

    • Repealing Florida’s restrictions on LGBTQ+ classroom discussion and protecting LGBTQ+ students and families from discrimination
    • Affordable healthcare and mental health care
    • Protecting Florida’s water, natural resources and coastline
    • Protecting equal rights under the law, regardless of race, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity
    • Teaching accurate American history, including Black history, without political censorship
    • Ending racial gerrymandering and protecting fair voting districts so voters choose their representatives
    • Protecting people and civil rights from abusive immigration enforcement

    Suzanna will fight to:

    • Protect beaches, waterways, and wetlands
    • Support flood prevention and resilience planning
    • Hold polluters accountable and protect natural resources
    • Preserve our parks as natural spaces, not development sites for pickleball courts and other overbuilt projects

  • Where Your Tax Dollars Are Going

    • Florida is spending huge sums on immigration detention and no-bid contracts with too little oversight.
    • That money should be invested in Florida communities, not political theater.

    Who Pays the Price

    • Farmers and businesses are losing workers and revenue.
    • Families are struggling to locate loved ones in detention.
    • Children are terrified, and parents are spending time on therapy instead of time with their kids on the playground.
    • Taxpayers are funding a system with serious due process concerns.

    My Position

    • Require transparency and oversight
    • Invest in schools, healthcare, housing, and infrastructure
    • Protect workers, families, and due process

  • Supporting Our Veterans

    I’m not a veteran, but I believe veterans deserve support after their service. Through IndivisibleSJC.org, we helped collect and deliver supplies for groups serving veterans, and I learned how difficult it can be for veterans to receive the benefits they’ve earned.

    Some veterans turn to services that offer to “help” them obtain benefits, then take a portion as payment. That is wrong, and Florida can do more.

    As your state representative, I will fight to:

    * Fund free, accredited assistance through the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs so veterans have trustworthy help.
    * Expand veteran mental health, suicide prevention, substance-use treatment and peer-support programs.
    * Protect veterans’ education and property-tax benefits, and support veteran-owned small businesses.

    Veterans, retirees, active-duty service members and military families are an important part of our community. They should not have to fight bureaucracy, be taken advantage of, or struggle alone when they need help.
